1.  Do I need to be a speedy runner for this race?

My goodness, no!  Although there will be some speedy athletes, this event is open to all fitness levels.  It is all about a crazy, early, fun morning with friends, families, and strangers!  You have this day!

2.  What is included in my registration?

Each registered participant will receive the 2018 Middle Finger 5K t-shirt** and breakfast immediately following the race at Ramada Lakefront Geneva (or grab and go breakfast snacks if you choose not to stay). Plus cake!  Lots of free cake!

All participants (who accurately input your email address) will be emailed approximately 10 days prior to the Middle Finger 5K with last minute info on the event and check-in party.

**some last minute registrations will not be guaranteed shirts.  This applies to people who were notified of that possibility.

3.  Is the Middle Finger 5K a charity run?

Yes!!  The MF5K is the biggest fundraiser Thrive To Survive has.  Your participation directly helps adults in our area and their families THRIVE through a difficult diagnosis of cancer.

4.  Does the run really start at 6:00 am?  It can't, can it?

Yes, the event really starts at 6:00 am! (I actually had a friend bet me $20 that I couldn't get 15 people to sign up at that hour)!  Metaphorically, we realize cancer has no clock, so while we GET to run at 6:00 am, many people will be heading for treatment or taking care of other needs within their diagnosis.  The other reason is that the sun is expected to rise at 5:57 am...just in time for us to SEIZE THE DAY!

5. Can I run with a dog or cat or pet lizard?

For the safety of our participants, we can not allow animals.

6.  Can someone else pick up my packet?

Absolutely, but why would you want to miss out on the check-in party?  If you insist, we ask that your friend signs for you so there are no questions later.

7. Is the Middle Finger 5K timed?

Yes, we use Yellow Jacket timing company.  No worries if you want to take your sweet time enjoying the course.  We will have a safety and gear check Polaris Ranger following the last participant.  The award ceremony will start at 7:15, and breakfast will be served until 7:45.

8. Are there refunds?

We cannot issue refunds. The logistics of setting up and planning the event make it impossible.  If for some reason you can’t make it to race day, at least come to the check-in party, pick up your packet, and know that your contribution will have an immediate positive impact to Thrive To Survive and the people we serve.

9. Can I transfer my registration to another person?

We understand life happens, and plans change.  You can transfer your registration to another person as long as it is done before April 20, 2018.  Contact jen@thrivetosurvive.org to do so.

10. What if it rains (or snows, I mean we are in Upstate, NY)?

A little precipitation won't stop the MF5K.  Dress for the conditions, and know that participating in a little rain (or snow) just makes you a little more fierce.

11.  What if I have to go to the bathroom?

There will be 4 portable bathrooms near the start/finish line.  Additionally, the Ramada Lakefront Geneva will be open with bathrooms for our use before and after the event.

12. Is Ramada really opening the bar at 7:00 am?

Yes!  And, they are serving a signature Middle Finger Margarita in honor of Cinco de Mayo!  Tuck some cash in your running socks, and download the Uber app before May 5!  You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning!

13.  Can I register the day of the race?

Currently, the 2018 MF5K is SOLD OUT, so there will be no race day registration.

     (2019 MF5K registration will open on January 7, 2019)

14.  What about strollers?

In the best interest of keeping athletes safe, strollers are not allowed on the course.

15.  Wheelchairs?

Given the nature of our cause, we want this to be an accessible event.  If you utilize a wheelchair for mobility or need one for the day of the event, we welcome you to participate! We do not have the ability to provide one, but we welcome you to use one.

16. What if I have a question that isn't addressed here?

For any additional questions or information, please email Jen. jen@thrivetosurvive.org    If she doesn't have the answer, she will make something up confidently.
